The steady rise continues for Bellah since serenading us with her earlier EPs, 2020’s The Art Of Conversation and 2019’s Last Train Home. She followed these up with a viral debut on COLORS with the Afrobeats-infused Evil Eye. The R&B songstress is now back with her most impressive and artistically confident project yet, Adultsville. The third single ‘Garden’ , with it’s stunningly-iconic visuals just had to be our track of the week.
Produced by Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum producer Jonah Christian, Garden displays Bellah’s mesmeric vocals and authentic songwriting in full colour. This is furthermore dreamy with an airy-futuristic beat with soft synths that allow Bellah’s melodies to thrive.
Simply put, the music video also comes out swinging. Directed by Ray Fiasco, the visual sees Bellah transformed, showing up as the strongest, confident and most powerful version of herself. Not only bringing the track to life, but further emphasising the premise of the track. Bellah works closely with Ray Fiasco to create a hypnotic visual world for Adultsville.
Bellah merges brilliant storytelling lyrics with flawless vocals, but it’s the total package of her artistry that stands her apart. Undoubtedly, Garden & Adultsville re-affirm her place as one of the major players in the ever-flourishing UK R&B scene.
Across seven tracks, Adultsville is Bellah at her boldest. Moreover, the EP serves an R&B experience that is engaging yet succinct. Adultsville touches on the ups and downs of adulthood – themes of insecurity, freedom and fear to name a few. All of which are vividly written and delivered to pin-point accuracy. As we have come to expect at this point, vocally Bellah does not miss either. The harmonies are clutch throughout with each track playing its role to add to the full depiction of Adultsville.
Adultsville was executive produced by Grammy Award-winning Ari PenSmith, who recently co-wrote on Beyonce’s Renaissance. Throughout the project, you can feel Bellah’s growth sonically, as an all round artist and as a person. On the whole, this is Bellah as we have never heard her, leaving no stones untouched musically while being vulnerable. It’s the stuff great artistry is made of and we can’t wait to see her journey continue to unfold!
