Ghanaian collective SuperJazzClub is far from ordinary. A group of true creatives, known for breaking rules and making up their own, they have been making waves due to their unique style, fascinating story and fearlessness to experiment.
The collective is made up of a network of artists, producers, DJs and filmmakers, which first came together in Accra in 2018, under a shared desire of expression and experimentation beyond the constraints of the West African mainstream. Their latest offering is a music video for their single MAD, which first dropped a few months ago.
The bossa-nova-inspired track juxtaposes child-like vocals over soft guitar melodies, with hard-hitting lyrics that explore the feeling of anger, and its often chaotic and violent nature. To compliment that, the music video follows a group of delinquents, embarking on a journey filled with indulgence.
With several releases in the works, MAD is the first piece of the puzzle, which finds SuperJazzClub’s narrating a story of of a misguided group of young adults, while exploring themes of freedom, chaos and escapism. SuperJazzClub recently took over France, performing at various venues across Paris and Montpellier, and that’s only the beginning!
We are really excited for what is to come, and we can’t wait to see them take over, from Ghana, to the whole entire world!
