As we keep saying – Canadian R&B is on the rise – and that’s excluding Drake or The Weeknd! This week, 25-year-old Edmonton-born singer-songwriter, Ruth B debuted her new single “Situation”.
“Situation” is a laid back soul track touching on the grey areas of romantic relationships. With her dreamy vocals, soothingly soulful vocals, Ruth invites us into the track. Additionally, the production is just as calming and provides a canvas for Ruth’s lyrics to claim centre stage.
Speaking about her inspiration for the song, Ruth adds, “It’s just about being in a relationship that’s kind of confusing, trying to figure it out, you know, what direction you’re going in. And I feel like it’s a super common theme, especially nowadays. So, yeah, it’s just the confusion of being young and in love”
As for visual, we are loving it! From its intimate atmosphere to the colorful details, it’s a work of art. Aesthetically the video does a great job in tying into the narrative of the track. Listen to track and take in the visuals above.
