Miles, real name – Vivien Kongolo – may be “miles from Kinshasa” but he exuberates a refreshingly international sound. The artist introduces fans to his own sound which hails from the diasporic take of a Congolese native, who lived in Paris, and resides in London. This sonic expression has allowed his sound to venture into a space that not many artists can perfect. His self styled rumba-pop
In 2016, the release of his debut single ‘IVRY’ signalled his first era – the mini-album ‘LIMBO’ – a downbeat detour into his self titled Rumba-pop genre. Moving further into his career, Miles landed his first COLORS Studio performance of the EP centrepiece ‘Could We Just Talk Instead?’- a co-sign from a “global prescriber” of world music talent.
Miles, who works closely alongside fellow London artists Kadiata, released ‘Golden’ and ‘Analogue’ in the late Summer of 2018, a subtle shift of sound from something less insurgent and more lucid.
In the same year, Miles collaborated with two of Nu RnB’s Next Gen: producing the smooth jazz offering of ‘Civilian On Heat’ for Ojerime’s ‘4U’ EP, and exchanging electric interplay with Latinx artist Desta French on ‘TYWA (Talk Your Way Round)’.
Mile’s latest project, Beloved, is a very openly honest body of work. The 8 track-long art was Conceived and produced solely by him and Kadiata on co-production duties for two tracks, ‘Motionz’ and ‘Testing’, The project also features a track with Murkage Dave on ‘Motionz’.
Throughout his career Miles has received recognition from Reprezent DJ, Lashawna Rose on her radio show and Ultrabeam who called him an “extremely cool, laid back exterior”. Mediums that have also supported include: Trench, Complex, Notion, Fader, London In Stereo, Iggy Magazine, Highsnobiety. On Spotify, Miles champions over 23K listeners and 4,100 followers – and growing. His COLORS performance of Could We Just Talk Instead has racked up over 331K views.
