Majja is a British Nigerian artist / singer who makes music with an influence from her heritage. On top of culture, the artist makes music for queer Black Women, similar to herself. Majja’s pot of talent is also gifted with her ability to freestyle, something she uses to write her songs. She admits with most tracks she opens up to the sound “and it comes out of me, Sometimes I’m not sure what I have created till it’s finished which makes the whole process so exciting and liberating”.  

When creating a vibe for her listeners, Majja says she is always on the hunt for the vibe to fit into her narrative of “universal music”. The formula for the perfect Majja song includes a powerful producer who can grasp her sound or enlighten her with theirs – something she says is essential because she “does not limit [herself] to one specific sound or genre. The 26-year-olds  style includes an MC’s bravado with the excellence of Erykah Badu style twang. In 2019, the songstress was listed in BandCamp’s ‘The Best Of Soul’ list alongside her EP, Concrete Roses. The EP is graced with Her raspy pitched voice-over tracks like “Black James Dean,” which includes lush keys and a synth motif. She told the production that in “Concrete Roses,”  “I put myself first, I put my mind first.” It’s one of many places where her unapologetic lyrical swag strikes hard”.

The singer’s neo-soul sound is definitely one to watch out for, her sound has been adorned by O2 Music, Bandcamp and In Search Of Media. While her following on social streams grows,  fans have a lot to look forward to from the talent in the next year.
