3. The Epic Tribute Performances Prince deserved
You may recall that after the Billboard awards delivered a less-than-rousing Prince tribute performance in May, BET threw shade at the performance by tweeting right after the show with a teaser of their show, “Yeah, we saw that. Don’t worry. We got you.”
Stakes are high after such shade is thrown and we were in keen anticipation of what the BET Awards would offer as a tribute to Prince. We were all glad not to be disappointed, as BET delivered several brilliant tributes to one of music’s greatest artists throughout the night. The tribute segments started with a performance by The Roots, Erika Badu and Bilal, with Bilal stealing the show on that one and channelling Prince like no other.
