When tracks are nothing but relatable it’s hard not to have them on repeat and Maxi Millz’ new track is just that! Millz is back with ‘Young & Stupid’ and this catchy commentary on modern love has got us looping the track.
Maxi Millz is by no means a newcomer. His debut 2021 project, ‘Captions’, amassed over 700k streams and had us excited for more. We are still trying to fathom how he filled 20 years of romance, heartache and friendship into 8 tracks and with such depth!
Millz’ gift for story telling really shines through in his projects as his narrative gives you an insight into his world like you are living in his peripheral view. With influences like Bill Withers, Aretha Franklin and Minnie Riperton, it’s no wonder as to how Maxi has captured authenticity in his songwriting. He truly has grasped the art of conveying his own emotions in a way that is synonymous to a whole generation.
‘Young & Stupid’ is the new addition we didn’t know we needed with cinematic, imaginative visuals to match. We love the Bonnie & Clyde style music video that pulls you into its own world. It vividly tells the song’s story of dumb young love through a quest to get his love interest back. With updated references to the movie, ‘In Time’ , which puts value on time as a concept. The sweet smooth melody equally frees you from distraction from the song’s narrative and we have a feeling that this is just a taster of what’s to come.
With ‘Young & Stupid‘, we can’t help but feel like we were left on a cliff-hanger. Excitingly, there is much more to come! We caught up with Maxi on this and more. Check it below and watch the epic visuals to ‘Young & Stupid‘ above.
Maxi Millz’ on the influences to his music….
My everyday surroundings and experiences are always my inspiration. Nothing has changed! I think maybe I just talk / comment on them a bit differently more of an opinion, more observational than emotional.
The story behind ‘Young & Stupid’…
I wrote ‘Young & Stupid’ because I’ve noticed how a lot of my relationships and those of my peers, are often rushed or based on fickle things that aren’t love. It’s a social commentary on modern love from my point of view.
[For the video]… we wanted to do a twist on the Bonnie and Clyde thing, rather than stealing precious materials or money we’re stealing something more meaningful than that. All still a metaphor for love and all the ‘BS’ that comes with it.
It’s a social commentary on modern love from my point of view
‘Young & Stupid’ is perfect for…
A car somewhere hot driving towards the beach, or a festival in the desert, with someone I fancy. Or post-break up when u start feeling a bit better about it
A message from Maxi Millz to fans…
That nothing is a lie, either a lived experience or something I’ve witnessed. And that emotions shouldn’t be something you always need to hide, happiness, anger, sadness it’s all just part of life’s rollercoaster…. So why not sing about it.
What’s next for Maxi Millz?
I’m gunna drop all the songs I’ve been making over the last year, with better visuals and less breaks. I’m tired of sitting on all my stuff!
