The uber-talented musician Alfa Mist is back with a new single ‘Organic Rust’. This is the second single taken from his forthcoming album ‘Bring Backs’ set for release on April 23rd.
The East Londoner here showcases his lyrical ability on the track which is something we are rarely blessed with! That said, Alfa delivers powerful thought provoking verses with assured word play throughout. As expected sonically, the track remains true to its jazz aesthetics. However, a boom-bapesq drumline adds that Hip-Hop edge to proceedings. Something that ties in very well with Alfa’s vocals.
The laid-back feel of the track is definitely aligned with the visual. A very simple video recorded journey in the car is displayed throughout on the video. Simple yet effective, this idea runs along the themes of introspection Alfa touches on during the track.
When speaking on the influence of the track, he adds, “In the UK version of Blackjack the ‘Bring Backs’ Rule means you can’t celebrate your win until the next round is over, ‘Organic Rust’ is a song about being at odds with the idea of success and how that can lead to apathy.”
This track is a big vibe and leads us nicely into the highly anticipated album. Run it up above!
