All Points East triumphed with a sensational R&B lineup – Kaytranada, Victoria Monét, Durand Bernarr, Tems and more. The love for R&B was very much apparent as fans turned up in their numbers and were evidently captivated by the performances.
All Points East has solidified its reputation as one of London’s best summer festival days out. And again, it did not disappoint. This year’s much anticipated lineup was stellar and it was beautiful to see R&B dominate the line-up.
Friday 16th August this was a show stopping day, walking to Victoria Park you could feel the energy and excitement from the festival goers. Those that missed recent concerts were definitely fulfilled by the lineup as we saw Tems, Durand Bernarr and Victoria Monét who had sell out shows recently. We know some unlucky individuals weren’t able to get a ticket in time and so we thought it necessary to take you with us.
Saturday 17th August we ventured back again for Day 2 as we knew that it was also a day not to be missed. Again we celebrated R&B as we saw Lianne La Havas and saw many acts paying homage to R&B creatives. Headliner Loyle Carter brought out some special acts and we cannot forget about Nas’ captivating performance. Needless to say we left All Points East more than musically satisfied.
Kaytranada headlines All Points East Day 1
Kaytranada brought All Points East to a close with a transcendent set. We don’t think anything is more fitting than saying ‘energy crew’. Not only was the crowd electric but Kaytranada’s moves and adlibs on stage were faultless. We were really treated too as special guests were brought out. Channel Tres, Durand Bernarr and Victoria Monét all performed alongside Kaytranada. There is something so beautiful about seeing artists collaborate especially since they all performed on the day in their respective sets.
Tems’ ethereal performance
Stunning, radiant, impactful Tems had us all in our feelings. We clung on to every word she said and were very excited to hear the transition from ‘Love me JeJe’ to ‘Essence’. We can see why it was heavily trending. Tems’ movement on stage was captivating. Her deliverance was warming ultimately, there was a feeling of presence throughout the crowd.
Victoria Monét the Jaguar herself
Victoria is a true performer and she set the stage alight. The choreography was unmatched, we can tell you that everyone was two stepping to ‘On My Mama’. We were in awe of her vocals especially with the intricate choreo. In fact, a word to describe Victoria’s performance would be showmanship. It was truly a set we didn’t want to end.
Bringing the heat to All Points East Durand Bernarr showcases his talent
Durand brought the drama. As always Durand did the vocal Olympics, showing off his craft to its full extent. We knew Durand would step out in an undoubtedly fire fit and it was one of our favourites from the day. What we love about Durand’s performances, is the crowd participation. Although Durand was on stage it felt like we were also giving a performance. Singing ‘Oh yeah, Oh right’ to ‘Company’.
A star in the making – Nia Smith
Nia is definitely one to watc,h her set was cool, calm and collected. Her vocals were clear and seamless. We cannot wait to hear what’s to come from her as she teased a new song that is to be released soon, alongside her debut EP.
R&B’s finest Maeta is in the UK
We have been waiting to see Maeta live and for a very good reason. She performs with such poise and elegance. Her voice is soothing and you feel the words that she sings. It was a beautiful set that we wish could have lasted longer.
Nas shuts down All Points East
We still cannot quite believe that we got to see this rap legend. We are thrilled that he was on the All Points East lineup. You could spot the real supporters from a mile away because every lyric was being shouted. He performed hits like ‘N.Y. State of Mind’ and gave a beautiful tribute to the late Amy Winehouse. We shall be reliving this performance from the clips over and over again.
Everybody was up on their feet for Ezra Collective
Ezra Collective delivered a special message to All Points East goers. This was just simply dance. Ultimately there was an overall sense of unity and community making everyone feel welcome. As you may know we love to say ‘Dance like nobody is watching’ and we definitely did that in this set. As Ezra Collective’s track with Yasmin Lacey’s track says ‘God gave me feet for dancing and that’s exactly what I’ll do’.
Ending Day 2 – Loyle Carner delivered
Lastly, closing out day 2, Loyle Carner gave a very moving performance. Quite like the fireworks it was explosive. Bringing out Tom Misch and Jordan Rakei was the cherry on the cake. As always Loyle conveyed strong messages and we love how he champions young talent bringing out young poets and giving them a voice. It was the perfect way to end this evening.
