The lead single of the EP ‘Proven‘ is sultry and smooth R&B at its finest. The track is a relatable love song that questions love and why the effort being put in on one side is not being reciprocated.
Nia’s vocal delivery throughout is truly captivating. From start the finish her flawless performance helps bring the track to life, as she vividly paints pictures on love from her point of view. Added to the mix is none other than rapper Rick Ross who adds a welcomed dimension to the song from a male perspective. Luxury rap being his forte, this is in full flow on his verse as he depicts the response to Nia’s questions on romance.
The production is lush and rich on the ear from the jump. Low-key drum patterns alongside swooning synth strings provide space for both Sultana and Ross to deliver clear and concise verses that complement one another. ‘Proven‘ on the whole is a tune that serves authentic contemporary R&B. It is also the kind of song that could also catapult Nia Sultana into the conversation of one of the rising stars of R&B to keep tabs on in 2022 and beyond.
