Six months on from her comeback EP Heaux Tales, celebrated singer / songwriter Jazmine Sullivan is back with a new single, Tragic. Delightfully, the single continues the conversational theme of relationships from Heaux Tales.
Tragic opens with a sample taken from US politician Maxine Waters, speaking on reclaiming your time. Lyrics like, “Why do you be looking for me to do all the work?, I’m so tired of coming through, you never put me first“, exemplify this narrative.
Tragic is produced by talented emerging musician, Levi Kali. Just as well, the track is richly layered with thumping bass lines that fit perfectly for Jazmine’s elite raspy vocals to truly cut through. Plus, synth-led keys and melodic hitting drums add elevation to the all-round sound and it’s glorious.
Tragic, is yet another single to add to the long list of hits from Jazmine Sullivan who is only going from strength to strength. Her musical growth is immense as she continues to illuminate everyday topics that resonate through her art.
