PIXTAPE is a sonic tale. The Blues Project invites select artists to take us on a journey into their musical mind-frame. A playlist of the music they gravitate to, that shapes them, the music that soundtracks their lives. This week, Samm Henshaw shares his picks...
The multifaceted, multi-instrumental artist, Samm Henshaw is a different calibre of modern musician. He seamlessly blends together elements of Soul, HipHop and Gospel and his most recent single ‘Still Broke’ is no exception. This week he returned with the track release, alongside an official video and announcement of a new album ‘Untidy Soul’ which is expected to come in October 2021.
The stunning new track ‘Still Broke’ features Samm’s signature soulful vocals, coupled with energetic trumpets, from jazz trumpeter Keyon Harrold. The official video cleverly adds humour to the real truth that money can’t buy happiness, which is shown through the beautiful and conceptual visuals. Poking fun at a sorry situation – Samm is shown living it up in a gorgeous mansion with tears permanently painted on his face, and then subsequently being kicked out with a smile. With Samm’s new era of music, he returns on a brand new wave – both in his musical journey and personal life, aiming to take a totally honest approach to himself and his music and encourages others to do the same.
This week, Samm Henshaw has shared with us his Pixtape selections – the array of music he would pick for those specific situations where the music matters.
As big fans of Samm‘s at The Blues Project, we loved gaining an insight into the pockets of music that fuel him, and we can’t wait to see what 2021 continues to bring for Samm Henshaw.
