Rising UK based singer / songwriter Bellah, is back with a video for her new single, Evil Eye. The track was initially first performed on COLORS in April and is already on over 500k views. Since being part of our inaugural BLUES100 cohort, Bellah has been on a steady rise in recent months. She’s been described as “the UK’s answer to Summer Walker”, for her strong pen and sweet vocals. And in recent months has more than lived up to the hype.
‘Evil Eye’ is new sonic territory for Bellah. She merges Afrobeats with the sweet R&B soulful melodies we have come to expect from her and it works a treat. ‘Evil Eye’ provides a wonderful outlook into her ideas of growth and successes as well as the importance of protecting your energy. Ideals we can definitely resonate with!
Vocally, Bellah transitions over the Afro-infused production effortlessly well. With her delicately soulful tones remaining at the forefront of the up-tempo sonics of the beat (Shoutouts to the talented Ari Pensmith on production!).
Whilst the COLORS performance of the single was brilliant, the new visual truly brings the track to life. The video directed by Ray Fiasco, begins with the parent of a child making a prayer for guidance and protection over unwanted energies. African inspired aesthetics are on show throughout, from its location and attire. Making for a well rounded heartwarming visual to what is a fantastic track. Check it above.
