The lead single for Vague Detail’s upcoming album, ‘Broken’, slaps from the jump. The detailed sound of a cassette tape going into its player is striking. Alongside this, the rich, deeply haunting production sets the scene. As ever, Kaleem Taylor’s warming tone hits differently. His ability to organically storytell builds up the anticipation of what is to come when the full project is released.
Also some icing on the cake, the‘Broken’ visual is vibey. It’s 90s theme-inspired aesthetics fit the sonics of the track wonderfully.
Speaking of the upcoming album, the duo explained, “This project is the meeting point. We’ve explored and grown separately and we felt like this was the right time to put our minds together and be as free as possible with the sound. The project is a journey of previous experiences. We touch on things such as trust issues, doubts, needing security, not feeling ready and even the impact that feeling these things has on others.” Indeed, we’re expecting a treat when this project drops.
