Thando First in Line New Music

The exposure African artists are receiving now has been a long time coming and we are loving it! This week’s ‘Track of the Week’ arrives via Johannesburg, South Africa courtesy of Thando. The talented 20 year old singer / songwriter returns with the latest of a string of singles, First In Line.

This single depicts a timely message – being treated badly in a relationship and the importance of moving on. A topic that many of us can certainly relate to. That said, Thando’s raw soulful performance is what effortlessly brings the track to life. With smooth soothing vocals, her vocal clarity is second to none. In addition, her truly emotive lyrical ability throughout provides the heartfelt feels required to make this a stand out track. Production-wise, the track is led by a punchy drum line and smooth piano-based percussion which allows room for Thando’s vocals to pierce through vividly.

First In Line from the jump gives you the feels and whilst touching on a topic of romance it manages to remain sounding fresh. This is largely down to Thando’s ability to draw from her own experiences and channel this in her music giving it a raw and honest edge.

Thando has an EP dropping on 27th November titled ‘A Force To Be Reckoned’. No lies told! It’s definitely one to watch out for.
