As the more technology evolves as does the ability to create amazing music without needing to be in the same physical presence. A prime example of this arrives courtesy of this weeks track of the week Love Boat. The track produced by Varnish La Piscine who is a French music & film producer, singer/rapper and member of the creative collective Super Wak Clique.
On the track, he has joined forces with none other than Norwegian based singer/songwriter Charlotte Dos Santos and LA-based soulstress Joyce Wrice. The trio all joined forces to create a track that simply oozes groovy soul. Love Boat sonically leans on the eclectic influence of 70s/80s disco alongside modern soul to mesh together a refreshing blend of soul.
Varnish on production provides a thematic backdrop similar to what we have come accustom to from the likes of Tyler, The Creator, Kaytranada and Pharrell Williams. Such aesthetics really bring the track to life helping it to paint musical images during the listen. Love Boat is a genuine groove and something you definitely will bop to throughout. Both Joyce and Charlotte elevate the track further with smooth soul sections that further add the R&B soul element to an enriching soul song.
Interesting the track was all created via the use of the internet with all three artists sending over each of their sections across to one another once recording. You can peep a full breakdown of the process here.
