The soulfully surreal talent that is Hope Tala is back with her latest single, Crazy. A song title that definitely sums up 2020 in a nutshell and is from her forthcoming EP, Girl Eats Sun, set for release on 30th October. The London-based singer / songwriter has been making big waves in the past few years with Crazy further amplifying this.
Contrary to its title, the track is an actual love song. Hope, describes it as “… the type of song I think we all need in these depressing times. The lyric of the chorus has a double meaning – it’s about telling someone they can go crazy and have a good time on the dancefloor, but also that you can tell that they like you and it’s all good because the feelings are reciprocated – they don’t need to hold back, they can go Crazy.”
The single yet again showcases Hope Tala’s steady progression as an artist all around. Crazy has the dreamy sounding aesthetics that we have grown accustomed to, based on her last 2 projects (Starry Ache, 2018 & Sensitive Soul, 2019). Vocally, Hope dazzles effortlessly smooth with her heartwarming, sophisticated tones. Something she achieves whilst splendidly painting pictures with her lyrics also.
Sonically, the song consists of relaxed jazz-inspired piano-based production alongside warm soulful percussion. This works very well to the allround warm vibe of the track. Crazy is the perfect feels for warming up on winter nights. We’re definitely very much looking forward to how it fits within the forthcoming EP.
