23-year-old Sam Dotia is a vocalist, spearing the sound of folk music and adding a modern Soulful sound to it. Sam, of Rwandese and Zambian descent, lives in London and describes himself as ‘ambidextrous’. Sam has said all of his sound is inspired by early-200’s indie coming-to-age movies. Rightly so, as Sam’s sound is acoustic, gentle and easy on the ears. In an interview with tmrw Magazine, the artist confessed to being a “die-hard Twilight fan”. Sam’s musical calling first began at a young age, when he participated in his school talent show. Back then, Sam was a fond Michael Buble fan and sang “Home” at 9-years-old. Eventually, his musicality grew when he discovered he was gifted in not just singing, but acting and dancing. Dotia had originally pursued the route of musical theatre; ticking all boxes minimally and going with the flow as he grew. However, albeit, he had a love for dance and the arts, he felt his calling was always destined to be singing and making music.
Sam has established himself as a serious singer-songwriter with an enduring lyrical poise and elegant minimalist sound. Sam has achieved over 29K listeners on his Spotify and an additional 580 followers.
