Mancunian singer, [ K S R ], continues to explore a new direction with his sound influenced by Hip Hop rhythms, differing to his RnB / Soul roots, yet still having an influence,  the emerging artist wants to aim high when it comes to his talent, with an aim to push limits and break boundaries.

The result of this is his 2020 offering, Stylin –  representing just that. [ K S R ] has noted his sound has been influenced by greats such as D’Angelo, Miguel, and fellow Mancunian double-act, Children of Zeus. [ K S R ] says the group’s influence can be heard in his latest release, but at the same time, does not limit his influence to older artists. In the modern charts, [ K S R ] notes homage to Travis Scott, Don Toliver, and Octavian – admitting he doesn’t want to be stuck to one genre. Since 2017, [ K S R ] has taken to honing his craft. His achievements, to date, have included support from MIXMAG, BBC Introducing Manchester with ‘New Love’, and fellow radio platforms BBC 1Xtra, Reprezent, NTS, and Unity Radio. He also has a background supporting Etta Bond, and The Mouse Outfit.

Notable performances include Outlook, and Sun & Bass Festival. KSR has been inspired to constantly expand his sound when he  was inspired after working with leading collective Children of Zeus member, Tyler Daley, who produced 2019’s Flex With Me.

The Tanzanian-born artist continues to use his multifaceted talent, charisma and love for both R&B and hip-hop vibes as a way of self expression, the result is a welcome of smooth vibes, love ballads and songs of his love for black women.

Sounds like…

[ K S R ]’s stand out voice can be compared to the sound of a classic R&B bass, that pairs well with both a contemporary jazz melody and acoustic piano or guitar.

In their lyrics…

Speaking on his track Stylin, [ K S R ] said: “Stylin is based on a girl who is trying to flex on the world, her friends, enemies, ex’s etc. but is also trying to conquer her dreams at the same time and achieve her potential and worth like all of us are trying to do in some way shape or form.” In many ways, KSR’s music isn’t always centred around his own personal experiences, often exploring others’ emotions. This is particularly portrayed in his track Queen, featuring alongside REMI.

Listen if you’re feeling…

you’d like to broaden your ears on the emerging talent outside of London. [ K S R ]’s soulful Neo-Jazz-like voice is the pioneering future of Manchester’s scene. He equally owns a track as a solo and is the perfect hook feature for any song for the ladies.
