Perks from GRAMN. …
Get to know…
GRAMN. began with the bold sound of a young woman, who enjoyed creating unapologetically honest music, named Aux. From Hackney London, the rising-talent has worked alongside London’s fresh talent including Kemi Ade and Jerome Thomas.
At 18, Aux was given her first taste of the spotlight as Iggy Azealia’s backing-vocalist. From there, her momentum excelled when she met producers and multi-instrumentalists James Lowe and Johnny Tomlinson, from there, GRAMN. began to offer music as a trio act.
The group’s career, albeit, still very young, has already pioneered stages across London. Notable performances include LGBTQ+ festivals, later selling out a headline show at Dalston bolthole Servant Jazz Quarters– which has seen live performances from the likes of Hot Chip, Laura Mvula and Lianne La Havas. In the near future, fans can expect upcoming live acoustic sessions, filmed during lockdown, offering a more stripped-back dimension to their tracks, with searing soft ballads thrown into the mix.
Sounds like…
The songstress’ trap and R&B tongue, made alongside James and Johnny, often imploads with dark melodic ballads expressed via mellifluous rap lyrics . Equally, their sound can turn into a bubble-gum rap style that will welcome a body-winding listening experience. This is heard in the brutally honest, yet comedic song, Mini Milk and their latest single Kitchen.
In their lyrics…
Fans can expect a sound homage to Tierra Whack and vocal distortions akin Kelis and Missy Elliott. Equally, their inspirations include Kendrick Lamar and Lauryn Hill, so listeners can expect beats that leave room for testimonial lyrics.
Not to be muted or censored, GRAMN. has been known to explore both personal and global issues in their lyrics. Topics discussed include, Bravely addressing Aux’s mental health, a lifeline in difficult times, the Black Lives Matter movement, domestic abuse, family and love. The stripped back nature of their lyrics has been described as central to the group’s essence.
Listen if you’re feeling…
Lyricism with R&B and hip-hop roots. That being said, for fans that appreciate honesty from artists and a reflection of relatable social issues – GRAMN. provides all of the required. For an appreciation of the classic R&B sound and vocalist, GRAMN. is perfect in providing a crooning voice and groove-laden soundscapes.
