Get to know…

Kristina Bassett is an alternative R&B artist who was born in Bermuda and  grew up in Scotland. Bassett was never aware of her talent, until she moved to the UK, and was introduced to her voice by her childhood friend and a pop idol karaoke machine. Following years of getting-to-know and growing her talent, her so-called big break came when she was first introduced to  the wider world of music through a collaboration with soulful electronic DJ Joe Hertz. With her mind constantly distracted by music and trips to the studio, Bassette swayed away from her university studies, and switched courses from Business to Psychology. She says her motivation to study psychology was her friend’s depression and a hunger to understand more. 

Since taking up music full-time, the same empathetic nature has driven her passionate lyrics and music. 

Kristina has also released “Bermuda”, an “island infused” collaboration alongside Joe Hertz that was picked up for “New Music Friday” across the globe, as well as joining iconic French label Kitsune’s official playlist. In 2017, Kristina’s solo track “Boys With Guitars”  was released and Initially featured a verse from American rap artist IshDARR, it was then  followed up with a UK version featuring Ms Banks, bringing in support  from across the media spectrum – including fashion publication i-D magazine.  

Her track titled: “She’s Bad”, has been described as a dark and bassy track, yet one that emerges with wave after wave of uplifting R&B. Set around “London streets”, it’s shaded with the tone of a passionate romance. Her recent duet with Mullaly reached the New Music Friday playlists. Fans may have spotted the talent at prestigious London venues the Jazz Café and Koko. Currently, Kristina has embarked on a new journey, alongside a new label and assistance from two ex-Sony Music execs.
