Super talented British jazz heads, Alfa Mist & Emmavie joined forces again with the release of a remaster of their joint project, Epoch. Speaking about the project, Alfa Mist explained via Instagram, “An ‘epoch’ (ee-pock) is a particular period of time in history or a person’s life. Can’t think of a better word to describe how some music takes you back to where you were & what you were doing when you first heard it.”
That certainly resonates with the track, Fly Away from the project, Epoch. The track definitely hits you from the moment of pressing play with jazz-infused percussion providing an organically soulful backdrop. Fly Away is a beautiful epitome of the project Epoch, a collection of stunning music that effortlessly blends Jazz, Neo-Soul and Hip Hop.
On Fly Away and the rest of Epoch, Emmavie simply does what she’s been doing throughout her musical journey. Vocally and lyrically, she adds an exceptional vibe to the track that hits ever so effortlessly. Speaking about the album and working with Alfa Mist, Emmavie said, “Working with Alfa Mist on this EP allowed me to access a more vulnerable and poetic side of myself. Alfa is just incredible and I don’t know what to compare it to but when I listen to these songs, I’m transported back to the moments in my life that inspired these lyrics.”
Simply put Fly Away is a track you most definitely add to any quarantine playlist you’re spinning at the moment. Listen to the gorgeous track above.
