It’s a packed round-up this week with EPs from Mila J and Lion Babe, several video releases and Nao’s full Glastonbury set. Enjoy below.
1. LION BABE’s Sun Joint
Following the February release of their debut album, Begin, Neo-Soul duo, LION BABE, released a second project in time for summer 2016, Sun Joint. Aptly named, Sun Joint, is a collection of summer-ready, feel good jams. Led by our #NewSongOfTheDay feature, Endless Summer, Sun Joint features the neo-Soul and more funk influences we’ve come to expect from LION BABE, but also a strong 90’s hip hop infusion. One of two remixes to Jungle Lady, a single on Begin, features Angel Haze and a sample of Notorious B.I.G’s Big Poppa. Similarly, Don’t You Worry covers Slum Village’s Players and ODB’s Got Your Money.
LION BABE is the resulting duo from the collaboration of singer, Jillian Hervey, and producer, Lucas Goodman. They are signed to Interscope Records and have worked with Pharrell Williams and Mark Ronson. Their 2015 single, Wonder Woman, made number 1 on the Billboard Twitter Emerging Artists Chart and they performed at Glastonbury in 2016. The duo are New York Based and are notable for their neo-Soul/ funk/ R&B/ Jazz mash-ups with a distinctly modern, eclectic twist. They stand-out as one of modern Soul’s most unique and inspired groups. Refreshing in their style and sound… Listen to Sun Joint below.
