3. Drake’s OVO duo DVSN drop ‘Sept 5th’
It’s all about new music this week as, the uber-mysterious OVO-signed alternative R&B duo DVSN dropped their debut album, Sept 5th, midnight Saturday March 26th. The release came a week ahead of schedule and was announced on OVO Sound Radio. Very little is known about the group, but it appears to be a duo composed of singer Daniel Daley and producer Nineteen85, who produced Drake’s “Hotline Bling”. Singles off the album include slow-tempo, but melodic alternative R&B songs like ‘Hallucinations’ and ‘With me’ with a darker vibe reminiscent of The Weeknd. But DVSN are no knock-off – their sound is a unique blend of 90s soulful R&B with that almost psychedelic alt R&B feel. The group generated some buzz when they released a remix of Aaliyah’s One in a Million (listen below).
Sept 5th was initially exclusively released on Apple Music, but singles can now be heard on other streaming services. Hear the full album below.
