Newcomer Alert: Free 6LACK

Free 6lack

6lack (pronounced ‘Black’) is an Atlanta-based artist of the new wave of artists straddling the line between R&B / Soul music and hip hop – think Bryson Tiller, Anderson .Paak, Fetty Wap and even Drake. There is a range of styles in that list right there and while 6lack would probably be reminiscent of Bryson Tiller to many, he is steadily carving out his own niche for himself.

6LACK’s music is uniquely sparse and moody, encapsulated in his description of his music as ‘monochrome’. 6LACK was trapped in a tumultuous record deal for 5 years, until he was released and eventually signed with the Interscope imprint, LoveRenaissance (LVRN). With the recent release of his debut album, Free 6LACK,  he rap-sings of the difficulties of his prior deal and the relationship troubles he experienced during that time. The album includes his popular songs, PRBLMS and Ex Calling. One for all the fans of a good  melancholy album with catchy beats and hooks (with the occasional love song sprinkled in).
